We’ve done it again – we’ve set a new record for the number of boxes we sent to Operation Christmas Child and beaten last year’s financial support given to Samaritan’s Purse for the Greatest Journey.
Together with lots of spare fillers, this year we took 158 completed boxes to the warehouse and we now know that soon they will be on their way to Zambia. Nearly 70% of the population of Zambia live below the national poverty line. Due to this appalling poverty and the high rates of disease and HIV a huge number of children are orphans. Half a million young children live on the streets with many forced into prostitution just to feed themselves and their families. The shoeboxes distributed to these children will make such a difference to them, so on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse and myself thank you so much for your generosity every month in giving the items to fill them.
Thank you too because due to your support not only did we cover the cost of transporting every one of the 158 boxes but I was able to send a cheque to Samaritan’s Purse for £675 to be used to sponsor many children on the Greatest Journey discipleship programme. Following this course every year many lives are transformed as these youngsters learn of God’s love for them, commit themselves to following Him and then go on to witness to others.
What can I say? We are so blessed in the fact that God can use us to share in this work. It is such a simple idea – a shoebox filled with small gifts – but in God’s hands used to bring many into his loving family. Please pray that the lorries and their drivers will be safe as they undertake their long journeys, that the boxes have a real WOW factor for the children that receive them, and that many come to know Jesus this year.
Once again a big thank you to you all and God bless you, lots of love,
PS Let’s collect soaps and flannels in January shall we?!!!
